Teaming Up with Libraries to Take Action Against Hate
Today, we’re announcing a new partnership with the California State Library to help spread the word about California vs Hate and its resources. Together, we’ve collaborated on a toolkit designed to empower libraries across the state to engage their communities in discourse around anti-hate initiatives and celebrating California’s vibrant diversity.
It’s vital for local organizations to be on the forefront in addressing issues surrounding hate and division. The California vs Hate Library Toolkit is designed to empower libraries in building stronger communities that celebrate diversity and inclusion. Local libraries are often at the heart of communities and hold a unique position to share messages of understanding, respect, and unity. California vs Hate is dedicated to providing in-community support, materials, and resources to help libraries maintain their place in the community as a safe and accepting public resource for all. This is just one of many ways we hope to provide in-community support through materials and resources.
“Libraries are trusted community organizations where people can feel safe exploring topics,” said Diane Cowen, a Librarian at Capitola Branch Library, Santa Cruz Public Libraries. “We stand at the forefront of educating our communities to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion. This toolkit is a timely, valuable resource for Libraries already working to reduce hate and bias in their communities as well as those new to this work.”
California vs Hate invites organizations, community groups, and individuals to partner with us in combating hate. By promoting the initiative, sharing graphics, and driving awareness, partner libraries can make a significant impact in their communities. Through education, outreach, and collaboration, this partnership can have a lasting impact, making communities feel safer and more inclusive for everyone.
